The aluminum ROPP (Roll-On Pilfer Proof) cap is widely used in the liquor, beverage, pharmaceutical, and olive oil industries. It features excellent sealing performance and a unique tamper-evident ring design. Once opened, the tamper-evident ring breaks, providing a clear indication of tampering.

As the part that contacts the bottle mouth, the liner material plays a critical role in the sealing system, directly affecting the product's oxygen barrier performance, flavor retention, and shelf life.

Liner Material Options

1. EPE Foam Liner

EPE (Expandable Polyethylene) foam liner is one of the most common and economical liner options. The EPE foam is produced by physically foaming polyethylene resin to form a closed-cell structure, providing excellent compressibility and resilience.

  • Advantages: Low cost, widely applicable, and good compressibility. It can accommodate minor irregularities on the bottle neck, providing consistent sealing.

  • Disadvantages: Limited barrier performance for highly sensitive products; not suitable for high oxygen barrier requirements.

  • Typical Applications: Standard pharmaceutical packaging, oral liquids not sensitive to oxygen, certain alcoholic beverages, and non-carbonated drinks.

2. Saranex Multi-Layer Barrier Liner

Saranex liner is a multi-layer co-extruded high-barrier material, consisting of polyethylene, adhesive layers, and a polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) barrier layer, designed for oxygen-sensitive liquids.

  • Advantages: Excellent oxygen barrier performance, effectively protecting oxygen-sensitive products.

  • Disadvantages: Higher cost and more complex processing.

  • Typical Applications: Wine, premium spirits, oxygen-sensitive health supplements, and essential oils.

3. PTFE Liner

PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) liner is a specialized solution for products with unique chemical properties, offering exceptional chemical inertness and high-temperature resistance.

  • Advantages: Excellent resistance to chemicals and solvents, suitable for corrosive liquids.

  • Disadvantages: High cost, relatively lower sealing flexibility.

  • Typical Applications: Chemical reagents, corrosive essential oils, laboratory supplies, and specialized pharmaceuticals.

4. PE (Polyethylene) Liner

PE liner is one of the most common bottle cap liner materials.

  • Advantages: Good flexibility, easily conforms to the bottle mouth, stable sealing performance; low cost and suitable for large-scale production.

  • Disadvantages: Limited high-temperature resistance, suitable for room temperature or cold storage; lower resistance to strong acids or bases.

  • Applications: Bottled water, juice, beer, and standard food packaging caps.
